Cloud Advisor Troubleshooting
Dashboard shows no data or stale data
Cause: Check data has not been updated recently.
Solutions:
- Click Refresh in the top-right corner of the Dashboard to update all check data.
- If a specific rule shows stale data, click the Refresh button (🔄) next to that rule.
A rule shows an unexpectedly high violation count
Cause: Test resources or unused resources may be counted as violations.
Solutions:
- Expand the rule to view the detailed violation list.
- Select resources that do not need to be checked and click Exclude to remove them from that rule.
- Excluding does not delete the resource — it only hides it from the violation list for that rule.
Cannot access Cloud Advisor
Cause: The account does not have Cloud Advisor permissions on this Tenant.
Solution: Contact the Tenant administrator to grant the appropriate IAM permissions.

Frequently asked questions
Q: Does Cloud Advisor check resources in every VPC?
A: Yes. Cloud Advisor scans the entire Tenant, including all VPCs and Regions.
Q: Does excluding an item affect the actual resource?
A: No. Exclude only hides the resource from the violation list in Cloud Advisor. The resource and its configuration are not changed.
Q: Are rules updated automatically?
A: Yes. Data is refreshed periodically. You can also click Refresh at any time to trigger a manual update.
Q: What does the downloaded file contain?
A: A file downloaded from a rule contains the list of resources violating that specific rule. A file downloaded from the Dashboard contains a consolidated report of all rules.
