Restore Point Management

Overview​

Restore Point Management lets users see the recovery points created by their backup jobs. You can browse all restore points in the current VPC from the Restore Points tab, review a single VM's backup state from its Backup tab, and delete an individual restore point when you no longer need it.

Prerequisites​

  • The tenant has Backup Instance by Veeam service activated.
  • The user is logged in to the Unify Portal.
  • The user has permission to view restore points in the current VPC.
  • The instance belongs to the current VPC and is within the user's allowed scope.

View the restore point list​

Purpose​

View all restore points available across the protected instances in the current VPC.

Steps​

  1. Open the Restore Points tab on the Unify Portal.
  2. Review the list of restore points.
  3. Open a VM by clicking its Instance Name when the link is available.
  4. Change the page or rows per page if the list is long.
  5. Refresh to reload the data immediately.

Columns​

Instance NameThe VM the restore point belongs to. Links to the VM page when the VM still exists; shown with strikethrough and no link when the VM was deleted.
Backup JobThe backup job that produced the restore point.
Restore PointsThe restore point information for the instance.
SizeSize of the restore point data.
Last Successful RunTime of the most recent successful run.
ActionsActions available for the row.

Notes​

  • Rows per page can be 10, 25, 50, or 100 (default 25).
  • The Restore Points tab does not support filter or search.
  • If there are no restore points, the portal shows "No restore points found".

View a VM's Backup tab​

Purpose​

Review the backup state and restore points of a single VM directly from its detail page.

Steps​

  1. Open the VM detail page.
  2. Select the Backup tab.
  3. Review the VM's backup state, restore points, and current job information.
  4. Refresh to reload the VM's backup data.

What the Backup tab shows​

The Backup tab reflects the VM's current backup state:

  • The VM has never been backed up and is in no job. The tab shows an empty state with the message "This VM has no backup yet". If you can create jobs, a Create Backup Job button opens the create flow with this VM pre-selected.
  • The VM is in a backup job. A job card shows the Backup Job name, Job Status, Schedule Type (Daily, Monthly, or Hourly), Last Successful Run, and Next Run (shown as N/A when it cannot be determined).
  • The VM has restore points. A list shows each restore point with its Date, Size, Type, Backup Job, and Status.

Notes​

  • The Backup tab shows data for this VM only; it does not replace the Restore Points tab.
  • A VM can belong to only one backup job at a time.
  • The restore point list uses the same pagination as the Restore Points tab (10, 25, 50, 100; default 25).

Delete a restore point​

Purpose​

Delete one specific restore point when it is no longer needed.

Steps​

  1. Open the restore point list.
  2. Select Delete Restore Point on the restore point to remove.
  3. Read the confirmation popup.
  4. Confirm the deletion, or cancel to keep the restore point.
  5. Wait for the list to refresh.

Scope​

  • Only the selected restore point is deleted.
  • This is different from Empty Restore Point, which clears restore points by backup job.
  • Deleting a restore point does not delete the backup job, the VM, run history, or the activity log.

Result after deletion​

  • The restore point is removed and no longer appears in the list.
  • The list refreshes after a successful deletion.

Notes​

  • Confirmation is required before the deletion runs.
  • If the restore point no longer exists or the backup system rejects the request, the portal shows an error and nothing is deleted.
