Create your first virtual machine
This guide helps you create a virtual machine (Instance) on FPT Cloud Portal in about 5 minutes.
Prerequisites
- Signed in to FPT Cloud Portal.
- Wallet has sufficient balance to create an Instance (see View wallet balance).
- At least one VPC and subnet exist in your account.
Steps

From the left navigation bar, select Compute Engine → Instances.

Click the create Instance button in the top-right corner.

Enter an Instance name, select Instance type (General), select an Image (OS tab), select Resource type (Template).

Check the Estimated Cost panel on the right — ensure Total (per hour) is less than My Balance.

Click the confirm button to create the Instance.
Expected result
- The Instance appears in the list with Building status, then transitions to Running.
- Your wallet shows an On Hold amount equal to 1 hour of usage.
- After 1 hour, the system automatically deducts the actual amount and removes the hold.
💡 Tip: If the Create button is greyed out (disabled), check your wallet balance — Estimated Cost may exceed your Available Balance. See Troubleshooting: Insufficient balance.
