Delete a tag from the catalog

Delete a tag from the catalog when it is no longer used and you want to clean up the list.

⚠️ Warning: This action cannot be undone. The tag will be removed from every resource that is using it.

Before you begin​

Role: a user with permission to delete Tags.

Steps​

  1. Go to Tagging → Tags tab.
  2. Delete it from the list or from the Tag Detail panel:
    • From the list: click the ⋮ icon on the tag row → select Delete.
    • From the Tag Detail panel: click the tag row to open the panel → click Delete.
  3. The confirmation dialog shows the tag name and the number of resources using it, for example: "This tag is attached to 18 resources."
  4. Click Delete to confirm.

Result​

The tag is removed entirely from the system and from every resource it was assigned to.

📝 Note: To remove a tag from specific resources without deleting it from the catalog, use Remove tags from resources.
