View tag coverage
The Resources tab shows the share of tagged resources by type within a VPC, helping you quickly spot resources that have not been classified.
Before you begin
Role: any user granted permission to view the Resources tab in the Tagging module.
View coverage
- Go to Tagging → Resources tab.
- Select a VPC from the dropdown.
📝 Note: You must select exactly one VPC. There is no "All VPCs" option.
- View coverage for the 8 resource types:
- Instances, Storage Disks, Subnets, Security Groups, Floating IPs, Load Balancers, Kubernetes Clusters, Database Clusters.
- Switch between Grid view and List view using the toggle button in the top-right corner.
Each card/row shows:
| Information | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Tagged | The number of resources with at least 1 tag |
| Untagged | The number of resources with no tags |
| Total | The total number of resources |
| % | = round(Tagged / Total × 100) |
| Progress bar | A visual representation of the ratio |
Note on Instances
The Instances count includes instances from Compute Engine, K8S, and Database. Hover over the ⓘ icon on the Instances card for a detailed explanation.
💡 Tip: Database instances inherit tags from the database cluster — they are not tagged directly.
From coverage to action
- Click Assign tag on a card/row to open the Assign Tags wizard for that resource type.
- Click Create Policy on a warning banner to create a Tag Policy that automatically assigns tags.
Totals row (List view)
At the bottom of the List view table, the Total row shows the combined totals across all resource types.
