Tag and inherit to related resources

The Tag & Inherit Related Resources wizard tags a root resource and propagates that tag to the related resources within the same system structure.

Before you begin

  • You have at least 1 tag in the catalog.

Step 1: Open the Tag & Inherit wizard

From the Tagging page: click Actions ▾Tag & Inherit.

Step 2: Select the root resource

  1. Select the root resource-type tab: Instance, K8S Cluster, or Load Balancer.
  2. Select a VPC from the dropdown.
  3. Search resources by name if needed.
  4. Select one root resource (radio button).

📝 Note: Changing the root resource type resets the entire selection, including the scope in the next step.

  1. Click Next ›.

Step 3: Choose tags and the inheritance scope

Choose tags:

  1. Search for and select the tags you want to assign (up to 10).
  2. The selected tags appear in the panel on the right.

Choose the inheritance scope:

  1. Check the related resource types you want to receive the tag.

Example for an Instance:

  • Load Balancer
  • Subnet
  • Security Group
  • Floating IP

Step 2 — Configure tags and scope

  1. Click Next ›.

Step 4: Review and apply

  1. Review the list of tags (the colored chips at the top of the page).
  2. Review the review table that lists the root resource and all related resources that will be tagged.
    • The root resource row is marked separately.
  3. Click Apply.

Step 3 — Review & Apply

Result

The tag is assigned to the root resource and all selected related resources. For a K8S Cluster, member VMs added later also inherit the tag automatically.
