Troubleshooting
Common issues you may hit anywhere in Key Vault, grouped by where they happen in the workflow. If your issue isn't listed, contact your Tenant Owner or Support.
Managing Secret Engines
| Issue | Cause | Resolution |
|---|---|---|
| Deleted a Secret Engine and lost every Secret inside it | Deleting a Secret Engine is permanent — it deletes all Secrets stored inside it. | Confirm before deleting. Create a new Secret Engine and re-add the Secrets if you still need them. |
Managing Secrets
| Issue | Cause | Resolution |
|---|---|---|
| Deleted a Secret and can't get the data back | Deleting a Secret is permanent — every version of it is deleted. | Confirm before deleting. Re-create the Secret with a new value if you still need it. |
See Delete a Secret.
Managing Policies
| Issue | Cause | Resolution |
|---|---|---|
| A Role lost its access after a Policy was deleted | The Policy was deleted while still assigned to that Role — FPT Key Vault doesn't block the deletion. | Check which Roles use a Policy before deleting it. Re-create the Policy, or assign a different Policy to the affected Role. |
See Delete a Policy.
Setting up Auth Methods and Roles
| Issue | Cause | Resolution |
|---|---|---|
| Lost the Role ID or Secret ID after creating a Role | The Role ID and Secret ID are displayed only once, right after creation. | There's no way to redisplay them — delete the Role and create a new one, then update the new Role ID/Secret ID wherever your application reads its authentication credentials from. |
See Create a Role.
