Auth Method
An Auth Method defines how an application or user authenticates with a Vault Instance to obtain a Secret access token. FPT Key Vault supports AppRole-type Auth Methods, suited for machine-to-machine authentication.
Overview
- Default Auth Method: the system always creates a default Auth Method with type Token. This Auth Method cannot be deleted.
- AppRole Auth Method: an AppRole Auth Method authenticates applications instead of individual users, identified by a Mount Point.
- Role: a Role links an Auth Method with a Policy, defining the permissions granted to an application once it authenticates successfully. See Create a Role for how to retrieve its credentials.
