Create an Auth Method

An Auth Method defines how an application or user authenticates with Vault to obtain a Secret access token. FPT Key Vault supports AppRole-type Auth Methods, suited for machine-to-machine authentication.

Prerequisites

• You have a Vault Instance. See Create a Vault Instance.

1. Open Key Vault Management

On Key Vault Management, select the Key Vault to add an Auth Method to.

2. Start creating the Auth Method

Open the Access tab and click Create.

3. Enter the Auth Method details

On the Create New Auth Method screen, enter the Mount Point and select App Role as the Type. See the Key Vault field reference for what each field means. Click Create.

The system sends a confirmation message and adds the new Auth Method to the list.

note

The system always creates a default Auth Method with type Token. This Auth Method can't be deleted.
