How VPC Peering approval works
After you create a connection, the VPC Accepter may need to approve it before the two VPCs connect. Knowing which path your request takes helps you plan who must act and how long it takes.
Automatic acceptance
The connection connects right away when both conditions are true:
- You have the
VPCPeering:Acceptpermission on the VPC Accepter. - The two VPCs belong to the same Tenant and the same Region.
Waiting for approval
In every other case, the connection shows the Pending acceptance status. A user with the Accept permission on the VPC Accepter sees this status and can accept or reject the request.
A request waits for up to 7 days. After that, it changes to Expired automatically and the resources provisioned on the VPC Requester side are released. Hover over the Pending acceptance label to see the time left.
If you are the requester and no longer need the connection, cancel the request instead of waiting for it to expire.
