Migrate bucket data
Migrate jobs copy the data of a bucket from another S3-compatible provider into FPT Object Storage, without any tool to install. You enter the source and destination, and the system transfers the objects.
tip
To copy data yourself from the command line, or to keep two buckets in sync, see Sync data between buckets with rclone.
Before you start
- Collect the Endpoint, Region, and an Access Key pair from the provider that hosts the source bucket.
- Ask the source provider to raise the bandwidth and QoS of the bucket if possible. The transfer runs over the Internet, so its speed depends on the bandwidth of the source provider.
- Create a source Access Key with only the permissions the job needs, and deactivate it after the job completes. FPT Cloud stores the key only while the job runs.
note
The job copies the list of objects that exists when the job is created. Avoid changing the source bucket during the migration:
- Objects added after the job is created are not transferred.
- Objects deleted after the job is created are skipped, and the job ends in an error state.
Create a migrate job
- Go to Object Storage → Migrate Bucket and click Add Migrate Job.
- In Source Config, enter the source details:
- Provider: the source provider. S3 Compatible works with most providers.
- Endpoint: the endpoint of the source bucket.
- Region: the region of the source bucket.
- Access Key and Secret Key: the Access Key pair of the source provider.
- Select the Source Bucket.
- Select the Destination Bucket: choose a region on FPT Object Storage and the bucket that receives the data.
- Review the information and click Create. The data transfer starts automatically.
warning
Do not delete the source Access Key while the job runs. Deleting it interrupts the job and causes errors.
