Host a static website

A bucket can serve a static website without any web server to manage, at low cost and with simple setup. Use it for landing pages, portfolios, brochures, other read-only sites, or a fallback page shown while your main website is down.

A static website has no server-side logic. It consists only of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript files plus resources such as images and videos. After you configure the bucket, FPT Object Storage gives you a URL for the website. You can use that URL directly, or point a CNAME record of your own domain to it.

Prerequisites

  • FPT Object Storage enabled for your account.
  • A bucket for the website. See Manage buckets.

Publish the website

  1. Prepare the HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and other files of the website, including an index page such as index.html and an error page.
  2. Upload the files to the bucket on the Portal or with an S3 client.
  3. Make the files public so that visitors can open them. See Manage permissions.
  4. Enable static website hosting for the bucket and set the index and error documents. See Static website hosting.
  5. Open the website URL shown in the static website hosting settings of the bucket.
