# 5. Remove instance from security group

{% hint style="info" %} <mark style="color:blue;">**Note:**</mark> This action will remove the instance that is affected by the security group and change it back to the default settings.

**Step 1:** Go to a **Security** **group.**

**Step 2:** In **Apply to** section, find the instance that is currently in the group. Select **X** icon at the end of each instance name to delete the instance > Select **Save**.&#x20;

The system will proceed to remove the instance. The instance that has been removed will return to the default firewall settings.
