# 5. Change permissions in object

{% hint style="info" %} <mark style="color:blue;">**Note:**</mark>

* If the permission is **Private**, users must login to be able to view and download the object.
* If the permission is **Public**, the object can be viewed and downloaded when accessed via address with `[S3 endpoint]/[bucket name]/(file name)` or `(folder/file name)` structure.

**Step 1:** On **Bucket details** page, in the **Actions** section of the corresponding object, select **Edit permission**. A new dialog box will appear.

**Step 2:** Change permission to **Public** or **Private** > Select **Update** to confirm the new permission.
